The service

A train's experience, on the highway.

TransRapid runs limited-stop, point-to-point electric coaches on the upgraded 3+3 lane NH-66 — using highway infrastructure to mimic the efficiency of a rail network.

  • Highway-exclusive corridor. Controlled-access NH-66 means highly predictable journey times.
  • Inter-city, every ~100 km. Connecting major cities and district headquarters along the coast.
  • All-electric fleet. Quiet, clean 12 m coaches — lower emissions, lower noise.
  • Express model. Limited-stop, with optimised boarding at key town intersections.

Why now

The right corridor, at the right moment.

Kerala has one of India's highest public-transport dependency ratios, dense urbanisation, and strong inter-city demand. As NH-66 is rebuilt into a controlled-access highway, a high-quality electric rapid service can finally run the way a train does.

High transit demand

Among India's highest public-transport dependency, with heavy inter-city travel along the coast.

A generational highway

The NH-66 redevelopment is the largest transport-infrastructure project Kerala has undertaken.

Electric, by policy

National and state EV policy support means lower barriers and faster, cleaner deployment.

The network

Built along the new NH-66.

The first segments of the redeveloped NH-66 — through Kerala's northern coast — are expected to open in 2026. TransRapid deploys as they do.
